storage woes

why, why, why is there no storage available over the summer in gainesville?

this wasn't always a problem. 2 years ago, when the other el bonito-ans moved in, they had no problem finding a place. so, suddenly, ever single UF student, all 40,000 of them decided they needed a place to keep their crap over the summer?

this is quite frustrating! i must have called at least 30 places, including places in newberry and alachua, to finally find one that's about 13 miles away. 13 miles! when there are at least 25 places within 7 miles of where i live! and considering i'm moving like 10 blocks away, its pretty much a huge inconvenience. The problem needs to be remedied, i suggest something like a lottery...like they do for football tickets. grad students get priority on units at the beginning of the summer. they get to pick the units they want for as long as they want. then seniors, juniors....etc. and by the time they get to freshmen the only storage units left will be in the old railroad station in waldo. which is fine, because freshmen can stay home or keep their shit at home until they need to move here instead of taking all the storage units!
i'm not actually sure who is taking them up, so i am talking out of my ass. but, they should at the very least consider subsidzing one of those gigantic multi-story mini storage buildings, like a public storage or something, because obviously there is a demand for it. if only the city would subsidize that instead of bourgie condo buildings like university corners, we'd be set.

oh well.
